The Municipal Board
The Municipal Board is responsible for municipality administration and economy, preparation of the matters to be decided by the Municipal Council, and making sure that the decisions made by the Council are implemented and in accordance with the law. The Municipal Board represents the municipality: it uses its right to speak and performs various judicial actions on its behalf. The municipal manager present the matters to be decided by the Municipal Board. The Municipal Board consists of 7 members who all have a personal deputy. The agendas of the meetings of the Municipal Board are on view in library and on the Internet.
The public cannot attend the meetings of the Municipal Board, but the decisions of the Municipal Board are in general public.
The Municipal Council
The Municipal Council of Simo is elected in a local election arranged every four years. The Municipal Council is the highest decision-making organ of the municipality. The Council guides the development of the municipality in a concrete manner by wielding economic power. The Council makes decisions concerning the basis of economy and financing: Tax rate, the basis of payments in general, borrowings and guarantees. The Council also sets qualitative and operative objectives for the various administrative sectors.
The Council appoints elected officials and major municipal officeholders. The agendas of the meetings of the Municipal Council are on view in library and on the Internet. The meetings of the Council are public. The minutes of the decisions of the Municipality Council are published on the Internet.
